BP is currently seeking a senior Petrophysicist to be based in Sunbury, UK. We are looking for individuals who have expertise in petrophysical evaluations with strong integration skills, both technical and non-technical, supported by broad subsurface knowledge. Experience with Russian style well log interpretation is essential, and a proven ability working within small multi-disciplinary teams with cross discipline knowledge is required.

Experience in conventional reservoirs, both clastics and carbonates, ideally with skills in microbial carbonates reservoir characterisation; strong well log interpretation skills across all vintages of Russian and Western logs, including advanced logs is essential. The candidate should also have experience in data acquisition design and execution; volumetric assessments and uncertainty estimation and analysis.

Responsibilities

Broad experience in open hole well log analysis
Experienced in carbonate petrophysics
Experience in Russian style well log interpretation
Proficiency in reservoir characterization, core to log integration of rock properties and core-based rock typing analysis is required. Experience in conducting core-integrated petrofacies analysis is highly desired
Experienced with advanced log analysis and integration: image log facies analysis and integration with seismic facies, and NMR log processing
Skilled in formation pressures and fluid sample data analysis, and have a detailed understanding of rig operations, mud gas, and advanced cutting analysis
Experience with resistivity modelling software i.e. UTAPWels is advantageous
Working knowledge of reservoir quality prediction, including basic petrography, Touchstone software and diagenesis is highly desired
Experienced in providing ranges of petrophysical parameters for uncertainty analysis and alternative scenarios, and contribute to the development of risk management plans
Provide operational petrophysical support to wells drilling within areas of responsibility
Ability to successfully interact with representatives of other disciplines, internal teams, vendors, partner companies, foreign governments, and work well in integrated teams is required
High proficiency in Techlog
Excellent database and data management skills required
Spotfire / PowerBI analytics experience advantageous

Essential Education:
Degree or higher in relevant field (geology/physics/petroleum engineering)
