Employees across the globe focus on fulfilling our core SPIRIT Values of safety, people, integrity, responsibility, innovation and teamwork. And we apply the characteristics that define leadership excellence in how we engage each other, collaborate with our teams, and drive the business.
Responsibilities may include:
Works on international plays, with responsibilities that focus on new entry and existing opportunities for carbonate and clastic oil plays. Participates in multidisciplinary teams and assists team members in developing and understanding integrated petrophysical, geological, and geophysical reservoir flow models. Produces comprehensive interpretations for porosity and fluid content in addition to other formation properties such as lithology, clay content, mineralogy, permeability, fluid contacts, and reservoir pressure regimes; utilizing logs and modeling to characterize the formation, based upon drilling-mud invasion processes. Planning fit-for-purpose formation evaluation programs, post well analyses and specific tool parameters for optimized petrophysical data acquisition. Contributes to the assessment of exploration project volumetrics. Prepares and communicates results to groups both internal and external, at a technical and business level. Mentors Early Career and other staff to help raise the overall level of Petrophysical applications in ConocoPhillips exploration efforts. Builds a close working relationship with other COP Petrophysicists in E&P and Technology.
Master’s degree or equivalent in Petroleum Engineering and 3 years of experience in the job offered or 3 years of experience working in Atlantic margin petrophysics and well operations as applied in an exploration and production setting; integrating log, core, well test and seismic data for reservoir properties; working with petrophysical applications including logging technology, log acquisition, processing, and interpretation; working with Atlantic margin carbonate plays and analysis, pre-salt play types; working with Atlantic margin siliciclastic plays and analysis, turbidite play types; deterministic and probabilistic petrophysical analyses to establish lithology, porosity, permeability and saturation models and their appropriate application to subsurface data; NMR analysis and modelling; rock typing; monopole, dipole, and quadrupole sonic waveforms analysis and processing; completing opportunity evaluations that have short deadlines and incomplete data; performing interpretation and analysis using Techlog petrophysics software or similar software; developing static and dynamic models and running simulations using UTAPWeLS software or similar well-log simulator software; forward and inversion modeling applied to formation evaluation; integrating with other subsurface disciplines; core analyses planning (full core and Sidewall core); planning RCA and SCAL analyses to construct static and dynamic reservoir models; and analyzing geological and operational issues to understand their business impact. Must possess one year of experience in drilling and geological operations, leadership in preparing and supporting data acquisition programs, both in cost and time.
