About the Position
The Senior Operations Geologist serves as a geologic expert on all aspects of remote horizontal geosteering operations using StarSteer and SES geosteering software.
Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
Interact with client geoscience, drilling, and completions teams, providing technical expertise for planning, data intergration, and execution of horizontal wells.
Monitor real-time data, provide real-time interpretation, and responsible for adjusting the borehole position real-time ensuring proper wellbore placement within the client's specifications.
Integrate Mass Spectral and XRD/XRF data into near real-time interpretations.
Submit technical reports on a daily basis, or as required, to both internal and external stakeholders.
Interact in a professional and courteous manner with clients and give technical presentations as required.
Oversee junior geosteering staff, ensuring that all deliverables are created and supplied to the client in a high-quality and timely manner.
Work in client’s office as needed.
Mentor new geosteering personnel in the art of geosteering and related disciplines.
Champion special internal and external projects.
Promote the integration of Reservoir Group services where appropriate.
Observe established safety regulations and comply with all Reservoir Group health and safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Physical Demands
Set work rotations consist of working 12-hour shifts on both days and nights.
Must be able to work fourteen days in a row prior to taking days off.
This position does not require an individual to lift more than 15lbs on a regular basis.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in geology, geophysics, petrophysics, or related discipline.
Minimum of one year geosteering experience working for a service company and/or E&P; operator.
Geeosteered a minimum of 100 horizontal wells.
StarSteer and SES experience preferred.
You would also be/have:
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficient at multitasking and exceptional attention to detail.
Self-motivated and highly organized.
Function at a high level and able to make sound decisions in time-sensitive environment.
Ability to visualize in 3D.
Highly computer literate, and able to learn new programs in a timely manner
