Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Mining Geologist to join our Mining Engineering Stability Team on a full time basis based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Senior Mining Geologist will oversee projects relating to Mine Engineering and Stability. The position is part of the Mining group and will focus on business development, technical delivery and providing leadership to more junior members of the team

Key duties and responsibilities include:
Work collaboratively with other senior members of the Golder Mining team to implement the business growth strategy;
Develop and maintain relationships with a broad client base;
Conduct site based geological fieldwork;

Auditing, technical reviews and due diligence;
Geological modelling;
Mining geology, grade control, reconciliation and sampling studies;
Resource/Reserve estimation;
Technical report writing;
Project Management
Establish linkages with other business units to support and enhance service delivery
Achieve and maintain a chargeability to be agreed with your line manager and reviewed annually or as determined by specific business need.

Learn and provide leadership in applying Golder's Code of Conduct and Health & Safety Programs in all aspect of consulting and project planning, management and execution
Work collaboratively with the technical disciplines to troubleshoot, resolve project-related issues and liaise with the client as needed;
Encourage and actively promote cross-selling of Golder services;
Project and client based travel, working away both in the UK and overseas, the frequency and duration of this will depend on business and client need;
Demonstrate health and safety leadership, promoting a safe working environment and an interdependent health and safety culture. Set a positive example to others through identifying and eliminating workplace safety hazards and acting in the spirit of our health and safety policy and procedures at all times;
Act as a visible role model of Golder’s culture, demonstrating values and behaviors consistent with our Code of Conduct and Values; and
Consistently demonstrate and visibly lead a strong commitment to Golder’s Equality Policy.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
Degree qualified within geology, or a related field
Registered Chartered/Professional or Member of a related professional body
Proven mining, resource and consultancy experience
Good knowledge of both underground and open pit mining
Ability to deliver well written, competent technical reports
High level communication and presentation skills
High level project management experience
Fluent in English with fluency in other languages (e.g. Afrikaans, Portuguese and French) an asset
