ContractA Denver-area Oil and Gas Consulting Firm is looking for a Senior-level Petrophysicist to help with a 4-6 month project to analyze and interpret well logs, calculate critical reservoir properties, and assist team in building large 3D static and dynamic simulation models.Responsibilities may include:--Working with and managing a team of Junior-level geologists and petrophysicists to oversee log analysis of up to 900 or more wells across a large oilfield.--Utilize standard triple-combo logs, and possibly some specialized logs, to develop/determine the most appropriate models to be used for calculating volume of shale, total porosity, effective porosity, permeability tensor, formation water resistivity, water saturation, irreducible water saturation, capillary pressure, relative permeability, and rock types.--Utilize data from routine and special core analysis to determine correlation equations and correction factors for calculating log permeability and determining water saturation parameters for “a”, “m”, and “n”.--Identify lithology changes in the reservoir which may include clays, various carbonate minerals, quartz, kerogen, anhydrite, salt, etc. and ensure that the porosity is corrected to the appropriate rock matrix.--Determination of rock geomechanics, including Poisons Ratio, Young Modulus, Brittleness, fracture identification, and rock properties.--Determination of petrophysical cutoffs to be used for determining net pay and average reservoir properties.--Working with other geologists, petrophysicists, and 3D geomodelers to identify facies and build a facies model that can be used to represent the changes and distribution of reservoir properties across the project area.--Demonstrate accountability for delivering results within the necessary timeframe and scope of the project.--Identify ways to streamline the interpretation processes to complete work efficiently--Prepare detailed and precise reports, make presentations, and interact with the clientsBasic Qualifications:--Legally authorized to work in the United States.--Education: Bachelor’s Degree in geosciences, petroleum engineering or related field (Master’s degree preferred).--Experience: 10+ years of working experience as a Petrophysicist including:Petrophysical analysis of conventional and unconventional reservoirs.--Correcting logs run in difficult environments, including zones of bad borehole--Identifying reservoir facies based on log properties--Utilizing core data to calibrate petrophysical model and equations--Proficient use of Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint--Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment to collectively achieve business goals--Good communication and presentation skills--Ability to work along-side, mentor, and train junior-level geoscientists--Ability to work at Client-site in the Denver areaPreferred:--Ability to travel, including outside of United States--Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.--Experience in TechLog, Interactive Petrophysics (or other similar Petrophysical Software)--Ability to code custom special scripts in Groovy or Python, for massive batch tasks.--Self-starter with the ability to work effectively without constant supervision.Job Type: ContractEducation:Bachelor's (Preferred)Language:Spanish (Preferred)
