ContractA Denver-area Oil and Gas Consulting Firm is looking for a Senior-level Geologist/Stratigrapher to help with a 4-6 month project building a detailed stratigraphic model in a large oil field.Responsibilities may include:--Working with and managing a team of Junior-level geologists to correlate formation tops, major and minor stratigraphic markers in approximately 900 wells that span several kilometers of distance across a thick stratigraphic package of mostly bedload and mixed bedload fluvial deposits.--Making detailed core description up to 900 feet of core, identifying lithological changes, trace fossils, changes in reservoir facies, interpreting depositional environment,--Working with other geologists, petrophysicists, and geomodelers to identify facies and build a facies model that can be used to represent the changes and distribution of reservoir properties across the project area.--Mapping reservoir properties including Gross Thickness, Net Pay, Porosity, Permeability, Water Saturation, and calculating Original and Remaining Oil in Place of each major zone in the reservoir--Demonstrate accountability for delivering results within the necessary timeframe and scope of the project--Identify ways to streamline the interpretation processes to complete work efficientlyPrepare detailed and precise reports, make presentations, and interact with the clientBasic Qualifications:--Legally authorized to work in the United States--Education: Bachelor’s Degree in geology or related field (Master’s degree preferred).--Experience: 18+ years of working experience as a Petroleum Geologist including:--Detailed stratigraphic interpretation of clastic rocks--Correlating well logs in difficult depositional settings--Identifying reservoir facies, changes in depositional patterns, and geologic character--Detailed core descriptions, included determining facies, depositional/sedimentary environment, and describing rock fabric and sedimentary structures--Fault identification and structural mapping of surfaces--Expertise in working in fluvial depositional systems, including mixed-bedload and braided stream deposits.--Expertise in Sequence Stratigraphic interpretation and processes--Proficient use of Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint--Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment to collectively achieve business goals--Good communication and presentation skills--Ability to work along-side, mentor, and train junior-level geoscientists--Ability to work at Client-site in the Denver areaPreferred:--Ability to travel, including outside of United States--Ability to communicate in a secondary language (Spanish preferred)--Experience in Petra (or other similar Geologic Interpretation Software)--Experience in petrophysical analysis including calculating shale, determining effective porosity, and water saturation from well logs--Self-starter with the ability to work effectively without constant supervisionJob Type: ContractEducation:Bachelor's (Preferred)Language:Spanish (Preferred)Required travel:25% (Preferred)Work Location:Multiple locationsFull Time Opportunity:No
