The position requires an individual that has extensive experience in the development and application of advanced geophysical methods in land seismic processing for conventional and unconventional assets worldwide.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Act as Key Advisor to Chevron Management, Asset teams, Research and Development (R&D), and Internal Services in the appropriate development, deployment and integration of advanced geophysical methods in land seismic processing.
Develop innovative solutions to improve subsurface understanding by integrating earth science, drilling and reservoir engineering data.
Provide quality assurance of seismic processing projects at external suppliers and continually evaluate and monitor their capabilities.
Partner with Chevron R&D and service teams in the strategic development and deployment of proprietary technology and workflows in land seismic processing and imaging.
Mentor technical staff in land seismic processing methods.
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Earth Sciences or relevant geoscience discipline.
Minimum of 10 years of direct experience in land seismic processing, velocity modeling and imaging.
Demonstrated knowledge in seismic processing and imaging with a focus on land, including acquisition, statics, noise attenuation, velocity modeling, converted wave imaging, depth imaging and reservoir properties from seismic.
Project Management: Experienced in project controls, including effective work planning, risk assessment, contingency plans, contract management, and demonstrated business acumen.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effectively communicates across diverse scientific and technical disciplines (Geophysics, Geology, Geomechanics, Reservoir Engineering).
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Earth Science or relevant geoscience discipline.
Demonstrated experience leading technical teams or initiatives in seismic processing for Unconventional Assets with recent experience in the Permian Basin
Familiarity with Microseismic, Distributed Acoustic Sensing and Vertical Seismic Profile data
Knowledge of industry suppliers in land seismic processing
Experience with ProMAX / SeisSpace, Petrel and Ikon software
Relocation may be considered within Chevron’s parameters.
