Functions and Responsibilities
Repsol USA is currently seeking to fill a senior technical advisor role within the existing New Ventures team in our Houston office. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for the identification and capture of new exploration areas and identification of new and emerging play concepts in the Americas region. The candidate will be a technical focal point for assessment and capture of exploration opportunities through Farm-outs and Bid Rounds as well as
making technical recommendation for data purchase in-line with requirements for opportunity maturation. This role requires a critical thinker who excels at integration of various exploration techniques necessary for proper identification and evaluation of exploration prospects in the Americas region to guarantee the replacement of the Company’s exploration inventory.
Requirements
Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer
Bachelors Degree in Geoscience
Greater than 15 years of relevant experience
Knowledge and experience utilizing various PC and Unix workstations and interpretation software.
Excellent communication skills
Ability to travel Internationally on short notice
Preferred Qualifications
Independent contributor, proactive, and self-sufficient across full range of petroleum systems and prospect assessments, with an ability of functioning collaboratively in a small team.
Ability to demonstrate technical leadership within a team under short deadlines with a strong focus on delivery
Senior seismic interpreter with experience in wide range of settings – compressional to extensional structural domains with a strong focus on salt basins.
Expertise level knowledge of the latest interpretation techniques as well as an advanced understanding of quantitative interpretation techniques using seismic data.
Candidate should possess a firm understanding of a range of depositional systems and sequence stratigraphic concepts necessary for reservoir identification and mapping in seismic and well logs.
Working knowledge of South American, Atlantic Margin and Caribbean Basins.
High level understanding of probabilistic volumetircs and the impact of prospect volumes on the commercial assessments required for acquisition and block entry activities.
Strong communication skills with capability for positively representing Repsol with prospective partners, government ministries and other related third parties.
Preference will be given to proven prospect/idea generator with a track record delivering high quality prospects.
