This position will primarily serve our flagship asset in the Southern Midland Basin.
Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with operations in Texas. The company employs over 200 people and has over 1,000 wells in operation
Identify and capitalize on opportunities to improve asset performance and reduce asset risk through reservoir and play characterization. Iterate on efforts as new well results challenge current understanding. Examples include mapping, analysis, modeling and/or other technical work in any of the following areas:

**Candidates are not expected to have experience in all areas.**
Collaborate within the Geoscience team and across disciplines, especially with Reservoir and Completions Engineering, but also with Drilling and Production Engineering, Operations, Land, Regulatory, Finance, and Legal in small-company environment.
Work with the team to optimize the drilling schedule for technical, operational, and value parameters. Step in to help with operations on an as needed basis (selecting landing targets, estimating horizontal well paths, identifying possible geohazards, QC’ing plats and plans against desired layouts, supporting off-site contract geosteerers, laying out surface and subsurface plans with ops, evaluating P&A candidates, and proposing SWD potential). Consider operational factors in evaluating well performance.
Stay abreast of industry trends and intelligence on geoscience and multidisciplinary methods of evaluating new and existing unconventional plays. Apply new and existing techniques as appropriate and as company strategy prioritizes.
Scout offset activity alongside the rest of the team. Share new information within the team and the company.
Seek competitive advantage in and perform evaluation of acquisitions and divestitures as company strategy prioritizes. Maintain technical opinions on a handful of possible acquisitions and/or prospects within basin and in other plays.
Work to apply existing and available data when possible. Seek and arrange data trades with offset operators, ensuring Legal participation for records. Work with the team to keep data organized and useable. Evaluate other requests from offset operators as part of a larger team.
Advise on technical aspects of strategic decision-making. Make recommendations on data acquisition, software needs, value of information, and technical budgets.
Communicate and document results and recommendations clearly.
Education & Experience
BS or MS in the Geosciences with at least 15 years of industry experience
Unconventional oil focus. Knowledge of conventionals a plus
Skills & Knowledge
Active softwares include Petra, SMT, Petrel. Significant experience in at least one of those softwares
Ability to work independently
Well rounded candidate with a variety of experience
Ability to develop good working relationships with all levels and disciplines
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Some experience with industry presentations a plus
