Malaysia is a fast growing operational centre for Petrofac in the Asia Pacific region. Responsible for providing timely, well-considered, technically sound geophysically-based advice to multiple in-house clients.
Support ED business development activities by providing geophysical advice to assist with technical and commercial evaluation of upstream investment opportunities in SE Asia.
Support ED asset teams by providing geophysical advice to challenge and assure quality of team’s technical work.
Mentor junior professionals to assist them to develop skills and experience.
Ensure all relevant data is used to characterise subsurface assets.
Ensure that uncertainties inherent in data are properly communicated, and that the effect of these uncertainties, on results, is understood
Responsible for the ensuring the quality of advice. Cost/Investment/Project impact situations are reviewed by supervisor.
Decision Making Authority
Key work outputs must be reviewed by the Head of Geology & Geophysics or equivalent.
Approval for acquisition of third-party services or data must be sought prior to any action to acquire.
Office based role with moderate travel, so as to be able to perform role locally, as well as centrally.
Key skills, knowledge and experience required
In depth knowledge of exploration and development geophysics including play and prospect generation, seismic attribute analysis and risk analysis.
Thorough understanding of geology, petrophysics, reservoir engineering and petroleum engineering.
Comprehensive knowledge of seismic data acquisition (VSP/2D/3D)
Ability to plan and supervise seismic data processing and inversion work.
High-quality seismic interpretation skills at regional, prospect and reservoir levels
Practised in seismic calibration, velocity modelling and time-depth conversion, mapping and modelling using industry standard software.
Provide input to the evaluating field development opportunities with direct involvement in due the diligence process and the preparation of technical and commercial justifications.
Ability to evaluate such opportunities efficiently and work to tight deadlines when necessary.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to engage with and influence decision makers.
Energy and drive; capacity to manage multiple tasks.
Good degree in Geophysics/Earth Sciences
Working experience on multiple oil and/or gas fields or subsurface projects in the upstream petroleum industry.
