Vermilion has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Geophysicist. Based in the Hanover office and reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Senior Geophysicist will be a key member of the German Geosciences team, responsible for the integration, interpretation and assessment of all subsurface data, in order to develop a comprehensive knowledge of the German portfolio and to mature growth opportunities. Deliver high quality subsurface Geophysical evaluations (including well ties, 2D/ 3D structural interpretation, time to depth conversion, seismic reservoir characterization) through subsurface data integration and analysis (well logs, core, and seismic, dynamic data)
Develop comprehensive knowledge of relevant German Exploration Licenses to identify new exploration opportunities and define license maturation plans and input to long range exploration plans
High grade Vermilion Germany’s Lead & Prospect portfolio through detailed prospect analysis, volumetric, uncertainty and risk assessments.
Provide support to Production Assets as required
Recommend drilling opportunities while ensuring their risk profile are in line with the requirements of the company strategy
Drive the maturation of drilling proposals; including documentation, monitoring of operations, analyzing results.
Participate in Technical assurance reviews, partner meetings and mentoring of junior staff
Manage external projects or consultants as required, including e.g. seismic processing, acquisition
Support the reserves and resources booking process
Review, evaluate and bid for Farm-in or Business Development opportunities as required in Europe
Assess open acreage and recommend to apply for new Exploration licenses
Essential Experience & Skills
High technical proficiency in Geosciences with 10+ years industry experience
Strong background in Exploration required and experience in development projects a plus
Experience in seismic processing, acquisition and reservoir characterization would be a benefit
Proficiency in English & German is required
A knowledge of German geological basins is required, international experience would be a plus
A strong team player, a good communicator who is self-confident, takes initiative, and shows a creative approach
Demonstrates good project management skills
Geoscience graduates, preferably with a Masters
