Overview / Responsibilities
Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking a Senior Geophysicist / Geologist to primarily support the Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) unexploded ordnance (UXO) geophysical investigations for the Department of Defense. This position reports to the Amec FW MMRP Program Manager. The successful candidate must have applied experience in the use of geophysical techniques for Munitions Response Site / Area (MRS / A) investigations and additional experience supporting engineering and environmental project tasks. The candidate must be current with leading edge technology in the area of applied geophysics for MMRP task orders including advanced geophysical classification. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in determining geophysical technical approach, establishing production rates, cost estimates and schedule and project implementation.
 
Key Responsibilities

Provide leadership to a group of geophysicists located throughout North America including assigning projects to mid-level and junior staff, monitoring field activities, review of geophysical data and deliverables to UXO teams or client and assist staff in professional development and mentoring
Will maintain and improve Amec Foster Wheeler’s approach, methodologies and techniques and will be involved in review of requests for proposals, proposal development, project planning, and monitoring
Will be involved in all technical job related activities to support the Amec FW MMRP team including geophysics, geology and environmental investigations

Skills / Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics or Geology
At least 10 years of experience and work history with hands on applications in the geophysical sciences and / or environmental industry including experience and knowledge of investigation techniques; Master’s degree in geophysics or geology is preferred
Excellent technical writing and communication skills, attention to detail, ability to lead complex requests, and a strong work ethic is essential
Working knowledge of Geosoft Oasis montaj, GIS (e.g. ArcView) and data management (e.g. MS Access) software is preferred
Experience with UXO digital geophysical mapping (Geonics EM61 MK2 and Geometrics G858), global positioning systems and data processing will be highly regarded
Travel is expected
