FastAre you our new Senior Geologist/Sedimentologist?

We are looking for a Senior Geologist/Sedimentologist to join our team at MOL Norge AS. You will be part of our Exploration team, which currently comprises of 18 staff members. You will report to the Exploration Manager and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally. The main objective of the role is to provide geological support and technical advice, in order to identify viable oil and gas prospects in the company’s current and future license portfolio.

Your future responsibilities

Carry out regional and lead/prospect specific evaluations, including reservoir development and -quality as part of a team in one of MOL Norge’s core areas. Proactive evaluation and development of different play concepts with generation of play fairway and lead/prospect maps.

Initiate and integrate well analysis to carry out reservoir depositional models.

Involved in different projects as a team leader or member of the local Exploration team.

Regional and prospect evaluations integrated with geophysical aspects in close cooperation with geological principles.

Identify the best viable and value adding oil and gas prospects for drilling, licensing rounds and farm-in.

Participate in data room visits and project evaluation teams.

Represent MOL Norge in license committee meetings (both operated and partner licenses).

Evaluate the hydrocarbon resources of existing and new areas; and analyze the risks.

Manage the systematization of data collected during asset evaluations and project operation as part of the MOL Norge data base.

Develop proposals in order to evaluate new exploration opportunities and fields. Prepare complex analysis of the proposed fields.

Communicate with the different organizations of the parent company.

Develop and maintain effective cooperation with JV partners in order to ensure high level asset evaluations.

Prepare internal and external reports and presentations.

Support MOL Norge’s management with respect of overall control and decision making.

Participate in the company’s emergency response team.

Such other tasks as may be reasonably required by the company.

About MOL Norge AS

MOL Norge is an exploration company with a portfolio of approximately 20 exploration licenses in the Norwegian North Sea, within three geographical areas: Central Graben South, Viking Graben South and Northern North Sea. We have participated in the drilling of several exploration wells in the North Sea as a non-operator, and are currently drilling MOL’s second operated offshore well in license PL539. MOL Norge is developing a new offshore exploration hub and center of excellence in Norway, building on the experience of a strong exploration-focused team on site. MOL Norge AS is a fully owned subsidiary of MOL Group, a publicly listed company with a strong financial standing.

Requirements

Your profile and background

Master’s degree or PhD in geosciences.

Minimum 10 years’ experience in exploration from the NCS.

Skilled background of sedimentological and stratigraphic nature.

Experience with geophysical/seismic interpretation.

Experienced user of static modelling packages, preferably Petrel.

Skilled in wireline log/formulation and evaluation interpretation.

Exposure to drilling, well operations and well planning is desirable.

Excellent command of the English and Norwegian language.

You are a team player with leadership and collaboration skills and willingness to contribute.

You are creative, result-oriented and proactive, and take pride in delivering high-quality work.

You are thorough, well-organized and work well under pressure.

You have experience from working in a multicultural environment.
