Nalcor Energy is offering a challenging and exciting opportunity to join our Oil and Gas team. Nalcor Energy - Oil and Gas has recently been shortlisted for 2017 Exploration Company of the Year (Awards to be announced in November 2017) by the Petroleum Economist in London.
Reporting to the Manager, Exploration, you will be a key member of the Exploration Team establishing new plays and prospects in frontier, underexplored regions and mature producing areas. You will analyze existing datasets and propose the acquisition of new data where necessary.
A minimum of ten years progressively responsible experience in hands on exploration and production geology;
Experience in frontier exploration geology in global basins is desired;
Experience with play and prospect evaluation and risking;
Experience with basin modeling of frontier basins would be an asset.
In depth knowledge of geological interpretation software and other standard interpretation tools, with a good knowledge of work flow problems;
Ability to work within a team environment;
Excellent communication, organization and report writing skills;
Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered;
Registered member of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL) or eligible for membership.
In addition, you will provide management support in relation to Joint Venture activities and permit administration as well as provide geological mentoring and coaching for staff to build the capability of the geosciences team. You will carry out detailed geological studies and incorporate relevant aspects of other disciplines, in order to support exploration and field development activities. You will also provide primary geological input to the exploration and production team and generate new exploration concepts that contribute to the finding of commercial quantities of oil and gas.
