Joining Sinopec Canada as a Senior Geologist means becoming an important part of our team dedicated to making successful contributions to a sustainable future.Primary Purpose of PositionReporting to the Supervisor, Asset Development, this part time (2 to 3 days/week) role is part of a multidisciplinary team with duties related to maintaining and maximizing the value of a broad array of the company’s non-operated and operated assets in Alberta and British Columbia.Roles and ResponsibilitiesWork in a multidisciplinary team to support the annual work plan and budget execution;Work with our reservoir engineers, petrophysicist and geophysicist to create integrated reservoir models;Evaluate and make recommendations with respect to all non-operated notices;Work closely with engineering staff to build representative type curves and evaluate well economics;Prepare and present recommendations through formal review to senior management;Provide input into annual Reserves evaluation process;Work with the Mineral Land team to prepare land continuation applications as required;Support the Business Development team with activities relating to projects as needed;Evaluate remaining potential slated for suspension or abandonment, provide support to well abandonments group;Identify and recommend opportunities for development or bypassed pay;Provide multi-disciplinary support for engineering, geophysics, mineral land, and surface land staff.Position Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceExperience in conducting in-depth geological evaluations and mapping of project areas through the analysis and integration of multiple data types (i.e. core data, drilling samples, and logs) with knowledge and expertise of depositional environments, facies, and stratigraphy;Experience with petrophysical analysis, workflows, and software program would be an asset;Experienced in the use of industry software (i.e. Accumap, GeoGraphix, Petra, Microsoft Suite);Familiar with horizontal well development in tight gas and oil horizons and latest horizontal well technology;Ability to handle an array of projects simultaneously, with the flexibility to re-prioritize as required;Excellent communication and presentation skills, delivered in a confident and concise manner;Dislplays High level of integrity in all actions, complying with and promoting the company’s core values, a respectful work environment, and aligning with the code of business conduct;Demonstrated ability to understand and work well in a diverse and multi-cultural environment;Demonstrates the ability to work well with other staff and drive the business.QualificationsMinimum 8-12 years of related Geology experience in the oil and gas industry;Bachelor of Science in Geology;Registered Professional Geologist through APEGA;Experience working the Cardium, Belly River and Mannville/Spirit River Group formations in W5;Ability to communicate in Mandarin (written and verbal) is considered an asset;Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.Come work with us!If you are looking for meaningful new challenges and have a solutions-oriented attitude, we want to hear from you.
