Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Senior Staff Geologist to join an experienced team of geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, Certified Industrial Hygienists, geoenvironmental scientists, toxicologists, archaeologists, and water resource engineers in our Tacoma office. This position includes both office work and field work. The candidate should feel comfortable interacting with clients, consultants, construction personnel, and sub-contractors as a professional representative of Wood.Key Responsibilities: Working in the field on project sites to perform geotechnical and environmental investigations, hazardous materials surveys, and construction monitoring Conduct field exploration programs including supervising subcontractorsInterpret geologic, hydrogeologic, and engineering characteristics of the subsurfacePerform engineering geologic analysis for infrastructure and development projects such as slope stability, and borrow source analysis. Provide oversight of soil excavation, demolition and environmental treatment system installations under the supervision of an experienced project managerMonitor abatement of hazardous materialsPrepare construction monitoring field reportsPrepare subsurface investigation reports as part of geotechnical engineering reportsLearn and stay up-to-date on guidance, state and federal environmental regulationsParticipate in training events, project meetings and staff meetingsWork and travel safely, follow company and site safety standards, maintain permits and training certificates. Understands and applies company, client, and site Health and Safety standardsWork on several projects at one time and maintain successful client relationsMay require weekend work
Skills / Qualifications
Requisite Skills and Qualifications include:B.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology or Engineering Geology is requiredLG preferred5+ years experience consulting on relevant projectsStrong work ethic and must be a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong computer skills and proficiency in MS OfficeDemonstrated ability to work successfully as part of a team and achieve team objectivesFlexible to work outside normal business hours as required - Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions or near hazardous materials Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Companys driving (Motor Vehicle Safety) policyWill lift equipment and carry laboratory samples which requires the ability to lift 40 poundsWorking outside in various weather conditions and uneven terrainWorking on construction sitesOffice work with computer*MONEIS*
