Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions (Wood) is seeking a Senior Geologist for the Portland, OR office. The position includes both office work and field work.The Wood Portland, OR office provides a broad range of services in engineering and earth and environmental sciences. Our Portland staff of approximately 55 engineers, geologist, scientists and support personnel specializes largely in soil, groundwater and sediment contamination assessment and remediation. We provide comprehensive support through all phases of assessment and remediation from preliminary screening through remedial investigation, feasibility study, remedial design, remedial action and construction oversight. In addition we provide storm water, hazardous materials, hazardous waste and other environmental compliance services, mold and indoor air quality assessments and other health/safety compliance services.Key ResponsibilitiesDirect and supervise technical assignments (both field and office) and manage entire projects or specific elements of projectsDirect a team and perform geologic/hydrogeologic interpretation of data at complex sites Provide technical review for projects to comply with environmental laws, company standards, contract requirements and related specificationsSchedule, direct, and supervise field programs and subcontractors as neededPerform business development and marketing activities as needed with Associate/Principal level staff to capture new clients for WoodPrepare proposals and assist in preparation of large-scale proposalsDirect staff to perform calculations, direct and supervise junior staff to input data into and/or run standard or in some cases advanced computer programsRecognize and identify discrepancies in results obtained in such assignments and follow-up with associate/principal personnel to resolve these situationsResponsible for preparing complete drafts of technical reportsUnder supervision of the project manager or senior staff, represent Wood and interact in a professional manner with client and subcontractor representatives while on field assignmentsMay travel to project sites primarily in Oregon and WashingtonUnderstands and applies company, client and site Health and Safety standards
Skills / Qualifications
BS in Geology, Hydrogeology, or Engineering Geology is required, MS preferredProfessional Registration (OR RG and/or WA LG) required10 to 15 years of experience in environmental and regulatory compliance preferredQualified candidate should have experience with the following: CERCLA, RCRA, OR and WA environmental regulationsDeveloping and managing complex remedial investigation projectsDeveloping and growing new client relationshipsStrong work ethic and must be a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills;Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS OfficeDemonstrated ability to work successfully as part of a team and achieve team objectivesFlexible to work outside normal business hours, as required; filed activities may require working in unfavorable weather condition or hazardous materials and in hazardous conditionsMust pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Companys driving (Motor Vehicle Safety) policy
