Encana’s Geoscience team has an opportunity for a Senior Geologist. This position requires integration with geophysicists, petrophysicists, and engineers to enhance the design and execution of development drilling programs and subsurface evaluations across the Anadarko basin. The successful candidate will have the ability to integrate subsurface information, including geological, petrophysical, geochemical, and production data to high-grade areas within established producing areas. Demonstrated experience with horizontal drilling operations and resource plays is required.
Responsibilities
generate development plans for multiple unconventional play opportunities
collect and integrate data of differing types and scales to build an understanding of the resource and its optimum development
communicate and interact daily with geophysicists, reservoir, completion, and drilling engineers providing interpreted well logs, cross-sections, and subsurface maps
create, generate, manage, and present sound, high-quality geologic interpretations and drilling opportunities to management
develop regional, multi-county stratigraphic framework and subsurface correlations
coordinate well logging and coring activities
mentor other Geologists, Interns, and Technicians
some travel to field operations may be required
Minimum Qualifications
must be legally eligible to work in the U.S
Master’s degree in Geology is required
a minimum of 5 years related experience with an oil and gas operator
Working knowledge with geoscience workstation software for mapping structure, reservoir properties and facies and producing well log correlations, cross-sections and well-seismic calibration. These interpretations will incorporate completion and production data
experience with Geographix is preferred
demonstrated experience planning and monitoring horizontal wells
a working knowledge of geosteering techniques
experience with log analysis
experience in unconventional resource development and resource estimation
understanding of play analysis, reserves analysis, economics, and risk assessment
strategic thinker with ability to introduce innovative and sound solutions adding the most value to the company
ability to communicate technical data through the preparation and presentation of clear, concise and persuasive oral/written opinions, reports and presentations
team-oriented with good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to integrate with others while maintaining a positive and productive work environment
extremely organized with the capacity to plan, prioritize, and complete multiple projects concurrently
ability to deliver outstanding results with minimum supervision
