Works as the Senior geologist in an integrated environment of landmen, geophysicists, reservoir, drilling, and production engineers to identify optimal drilling locations (primarily, but not limited to unconventional development) by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Produces pre-drill prognosis with location, anticipated tops, well plan, geological and economic justification of location along with identification of any known or suspected drilling hazards.

Maintains constant communication with Drilling department and monitors geosteering during drilling of wells. Provides feedback and plan changes as necessary.

Helps to coordinate logging runs and perform Petrophysical comparisons (open and cased hole well logs QCOM, OBMI, ELAN, Mechanical Properties, etc.); long stratigraphic correlations, regional structural and isopach mapping,

Performs Geophysical evaluations; creating synthetics, well ties to 3D datasets, structural interpretation, and aids in evaluation of locations and geosteering.

Incorporation of post well appraisal (production and economic metrics) in order to maintain optimal development plans.

Reviews competitor/offset drilling and production activity, data room evaluation to complement our understanding of regional activity/development.

Provides senior mentorship to geologist and junior geologist positions.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Geosciences or related fields; A Master’s degree in Geosciences or related filed is preferred. A minimum of seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software.
