Position Summary

Responsible for geologic mapping, coal reserve computation, exploration and identifying/characterizing mining related issues on all Energy Transfer properties. Works closely with engineers on mining property related projects.

Updates Energy Transfer reserve maps on an as-needed and annual basis

Plans and conducts exploration drilling programs. This may include obtaining required drilling permits, supervision of drilling and excavation contractors, coordinating with state and federal regulators/inspectors, supervision of geophysical logging, core logging and sample collection. Preparing samples for shipment to analytical laboratories.

Provide maps, plans and or data to lessees that support mining and extraction of coal from Energy Transfer properties.

Prepare geologic and coal reserve evaluation reports to Energy Transfer management and to lessee’s.

Prepare geologic maps and cross-sections required for coal reserve evaluations, coal mineability studies and mine permitting.

Prepare surface and underground mine mapping for the assessment of mine conditions and problems as required and providing suggestions to remediate said problems.

Prepare annual reserves for SEC reporting.

Oversees/ manages exploration from start to finish. Coordinates and manages the preparation of Energy Transfer reserve maps with the engineering department. Acquire and develops data to provide to the exploration technician for entry into our corporate database. Coordinates with the land managers on property issues that involve drilling and exploration. Coordinates with Lessee’s for the acquisition of geologic data gathered on and around Energy Transfer properties.

Required Skills

Knowledge of/experience with coal geological modeling software.

Surface and underground geology experience.

Familiar with coal mine design and coal mining methods, Engineering, Operations Management, Project Management and Planning.

Mining, Environmental Permitting Experience.

Off-road 4WD driving experience.

Microsoft Products – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD

Carlson Software (SurvCADD)

ArcGIS Database Software Skills

Required Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related field.
