Job SummaryThis position will provide technical expertise and support to the Geology/A&D; department and Engineering department by refining a stratigraphic framework, determining the location of potential reservoirs, estimating potential reserves, defining drilling locations, providing support for drilling and production efforts and assisting in the evaluation of potential acquisitions.Major ResponsibilitiesGenerate and update maps in assigned area of responsibility using all appropriate data & technologies (including, but not limited to, 2D/3D seismic, production, petrophysical, geochemical and core data) to grow, high-grade and prioritize drilling location inventoryMake recommendations to management for the drilling of development wells, inclusive of input to commercial/economic evaluationConduct/coordinate post-audits on development well programs and report results to management.Assist in evaluation of 3rd party acreage submittals and/or property acquisitions.Monitor industry activity in area of responsibility utilizing public data and industry networks.Work closely with Land Department to acquire acreage on extensions of core areas selected for leasehold capital expenditures.Develop new drilling targets or play conceptsInvolved in geological operation aspects of drilling wells, creating geologic prognosis, and staking wellsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Geology or Geophysics required, MS or MBA preferred15+ years’ experience in development/exploration related geoscience work with responsibilities similar to abovePractical experience with unconventional/resource plays and horizontal drillingDemonstrated proficiency in Petra/Kingdom or other integrated geoscience software packageExperience with mechanical properties/rock mechanics software (FracGeo, etc.)Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products, Word, Excel, Power PointSome prior work experience in the Permian Basin requiredKnowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesStrong petrophysical skillsPETRA/Kingdom experience preferredExcellent oral and written communication skillsSelf-motivated and highly organizedProficient at multitasking and exceptional attention to detailJob Type: Full-timeExperience:Petra: 5 years (Required)Microsoft Office: 5 years (Required)Permian Basin: 4 years (Required)Education:Bachelor's (Required)
