The Exploration Team has an exciting opportunity to aid in the assessment of emerging and undiscovered plays across North America. The team is looking for a Senior Geologist to assist with reservoir characterization, data analysis, and mentoring in support of exploration and play assessment operations. We are seeking an adaptive scientist with multidisciplinary skill sets, experience in project and capital management, one with a strong geoscience background embracing developing digital technology, an architectural understanding of volumes, structural geology, and complex petroleum systems, deep knowledge of key US basins, a Petrel power user, and capable of mentoring technical professionals.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record of working in a collaborative team environment where excellence, resiliency, and self-management are critical skill sets. The primary purpose of this position is four-fold: (1) help drive the idea generation efforts for exploration, (2) create insight into reservoir and development trends, (3) construct volumetric assessments integrating all subsurface data, (4) mentor technical staff. The candidate will be required to integrate large data sets, work interactively in Spotfire, and run Petrel.
Encana is seeking an individual who is capable of understanding and mapping the cratonic evolutionary forces that both shape our earth and drive commercial development. We are seeking a senior reservoir scientist who can influence capital decision making, understand and simplify complex systems, build multi and co-visualizations, analyze market trends, track competitor data, and develop fundable opportunities.
This Senior Geoscientist position will report to the Geoscience Manager, Exploration.
Responsibilities :
provide Senior Geoscience leadership and experience in a multi-disciplinary team built around Petrel and Petrel Studio integration
integrate a broad range of data into volumetric assessments and help drive the exploration efforts pushing our corporation forward
learn and interpret the broad range of geologic and thermogenic settings across North America
monitor competitor activity, integrate relevant elements into ongoing assessments
provide regional geologic input for development planning, land acquisitions & divestitures, joint venture evaluations, and economic evaluations
evaluate multiple basins and geologic settings
apply knowledge and expertise to reservoir characterization and well performance projections
actively engage in peer reviews to assess and convey program risk & upside
work in multi-disciplined exploration team
Qualifications :
Master’s Degree in Geology
at least 10 years of relevant industry experience
strong expertise in Petrel based geologic and modeling workflows
expertise in global geology, basin analysis, and hydrocarbon systems
good understanding of structural geology, stratigraphic interpretation, natural fracture systems, sedimentology, and petrophysics
strong regional interpretation skills and a good understanding of shale analysis methods
deep background in on shore North American horizontal development basins
experience in Permian, Gulf Coast, Mid-Continent, and Bakken geology
expertise in analytical workflows built from complex geoscience models
grounded in the statistical relevance of data; data science fundamentals and advanced statistical knowledge are a plus
seismic interpretation skills are a benefit
strong track record of results, taking initiative and showing leadership
strong communication, presentation, writing, and organization skills
understanding of the cadence of content creation and presenting in a high impact, technology driven subsurface team
ability to meet deadlines and advance multiple projects concurrently
currently eligible or able to obtain clearance to work in the United States
