Berry Petroleum Company, LLC is searching for an experience Senior Geologist to help establish our growing Rockies Asset Team during this exciting time for our organization. This position will be based out of Bakersfield, CA or Dallas, TX.Position SummaryThe Senior Geologist 3 will be an integral member of an asset team that works closely with operations to plan and implement development programs that add value to the company. The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of geology and geological techniques, and will work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary asset team. The candidate will often work on growth, exploration and/or acquisition projects with the Business Development team to enhance and grow the value of the company.Key AccountabilitiesProvides innovative thinking and guidance to add value to existing assets or into new areas of interest.Regularly applies a variety of geological principles and techniques to solving problems.Independently performs key operations and functions.Provides mentoring and directs less experienced geologists when required.Interprets logs and geological data and analyzes information such as maps, site samples, and other types of data.Assists in specifying, acquiring, and evaluating geological data required in the identification, mapping, drilling, and operation of oil and gas properties.Performs the well planning process to optimize well locations using all petrophysical, geological, and geophysical data.Makes recommendations regarding drilling locations, wireline interpretation, completion zones, recompletion and workover candidates, and 2D/3D modeling, subsurface mapping, reserve calculations, and reporting oil in place.Coordinates directional surface location, bottom-hole planning and permitting with regulatory and land staff.Constructs and maintains 3D geo-models.Generates, leads, and develops exploration prospects through the interpretation of well logs, scout tickets, and other geological and geophysical data.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Geosciences required.Master’s Degree in Geosciences preferred.Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in oil and gas exploration and production required.Working knowledge and experience in the Rockies region preferred, with preference given to those with experience working Colorado and Utah basins.Experience working with and mapping geophysical data preferred.Exposure and working knowledge of regulatory systems the Rockies region.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary depending on experience including a short-term cash incentive bonus and long-term incentive awarded in restricted share units.
