Are you an idea generator and an expert in development geology and want to work with an non-operator? Are you passionate about field development, geological modelling and the exciting North Sea industry? In this role, you will have the rare opportunity to join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team that is embedded within Suncor’s Exploration and Production business, and deliver successful and efficient operator technical assurance specifically to the Buzzard asset. Using your positive attitude and analytical skills, you will maintain and develop our joint venture (JV) business through independent technical verification.
You will use your expertise to:
Integrate geological and geophysical data in order to support business decisions in areas such as prospect generation, technical risk assessment, ranking and location of development wells, field evaluations, logging, and appraisal programs
Provide geological and/or geophysical interpretations and data to support the creation and quality control of geomodels for reservoir simulation
Provide non-operated JV support for on-going drilling operations
Represent the company in meetings with co-venturers and deliver presentations to peers and external partners
Provide input in peer assist and peer review meetings to support business development and growth opportunities
Provide ideas to new ventures and exploration evaluations
Solve geological problems and optimize production from our partner operated fields by interfacing, influencing and aligning with our JV partners. Document project work, maintain project and corporate databases and records archives
We’d like to review your application if you have…
Must-haves (minimum requirements):
Experience in the upstream cycle from frontier exploration and prospect generation through to field appraisal, development, and rehabilitation
Completed post-secondary education in a geoscience, or at least 10 years of experience working as a geologist in an oil and gas or service company
Strong understanding of geological risk assessment and general economic principles
Up-to-date knowledge of geological interpretation and mapping applications
The ability to understand and integrate other functional disciplines
Strong social, communication and presentation skills, and you are a highly ambitious teammate with excellent business understanding
The ability to lead multiple, competing priorities, and make strong work under tight-deadlines

Prior offshore development and exploration experience
Experience using Petrel
Previous experience collaborating with internal teams and external JV partners
Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:
You will work out of our United Kingdom office in Aberdeen, Scotland
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
