About the opportunity:
The role of the Senior Geoscience Technologist will be to provide technical support to Murphy’s Canada geoscience group. Reporting to the Onshore North America Geological Advisor, the Technologist will be responsible for assisting geologists and geophysicists in both the Montney and Kaybob assets. Key responsibilities in this role include: Updating geomodel projects with new data, warehousing and loading seismic data in Katalyst/iGlass, preparation of geosteering projects, maintaining a physical and on-line geoscience library, overseeing a centralized geological tops database, updating presentation packages, coordinating the creation and submission of land continuation packages.
Main responsibilities:
Geophysical data management – Katalyst/iGlass
Coordination of land continuation packages
Assist the geoscience team with drilling programs and prognoses
Geological library coordination and maintenance – including inventory of internal regional mapping
Loading data in geosteering projects
Updating presentation slides
Data loading and maintenance
Regional geological tops database
General data management and support for geoscientists
Qualifications:
10-20 years’ work experience in an oil and gas exploration environment with exposure to both geological and geophysical workflows and processes
Proficiency in geological software packages (Accumap, Petrel, Kingdom, Decision Space, StarSteer) and geophysical software (Seisware, Katalyst/iGlass)
Familiarity with database management and structure
High level of proficiency with MS Office software
