Description

The Company is seeking an experienced Exploration Geologist to work with a team of geoscientists exploring for hydrocarbons in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Key Responsibilities
  • Identify leads and mature these to be added to the company’s Exploration Portfolio
  • Work up prospects to drillable status
  • Regional play assessments for the process of accessing new opportunities through farm-ins or accessing open blocks
  • Engagement in ongoing geological studies with the corporate subsurface group

 

Required Qualifications and Experience

Ideally MSc in Geology or Geophysics

  • 10+ year experience in the E&P Industry
  • A generalist with a solid background in carbonate geology and specifically the characterization of fractured carbonate reservoirs
  • Involvement in exploration/appraisal well planning, operations and follow-up
  • Solid understanding of structural geology especially in compressional settings
  • Probabilistic volume assessment and risking
  • Broad experience in different regions and basins, specific experience in Middle Eastern geology is advantageous
  • Comfortable user of Petrel and knowledge of GIS mapping software, preferably ArcGIS
  • Solid knowledge and experience in Petroleum systems analysis is advantageous
  • Geophysical experience: seismic interpretation, well ties & good understanding of velocity modeling
  • Understanding of key carbonate subsurface uncertainties and its impact to the reservoir behavior
