Within Suncor’s diverse SAGD asset base, you will work with other engineers and geoscientists, providing reservoir technical analysis to support ongoing operations, business stewardship and investments as a senior reservoir engineer. You will work to optimize our operating assets and progress investments for sustainment and growth opportunities in order to improve Suncor’s value through enhanced oil recovery mechanisms and new technologies.
May include but not limited to:
Support and adhere to subsurface process safety
Responsible for reservoir and production optimization of assigned areas; provide guidance and support for optimizing immediate and long term reservoir performance
Conduct detailed reservoir studies and associated economic analysis to maintain long-term depletion strategy
Development of production profiles to support short term forecast and long-range plans
Lead sustaining pad development program, major property review and long-range plan (including production volumes, capital, and expenses)
Identify and coordinate relevant technical data gathering / analysis and recommendations for potential work-over and brownfield development opportunities
Lead or support the development and implementation of new technology pilots and their field-wide commercialization
Support design and develop of winter programs and well test programs
Lead or support annual reserves assessment
Provide regulatory support for operational and growth applications
Contribute to continuous improvement of surveillance practices and strategy
Experience and Education
Minimum of seven years of oil and gas experience
Reservoir and/or production engineering preferred
Reservoir simulation experience is a preference
Experience in field development planning an asset
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Registered as a professional engineer through APEGA
Skills and Knowledge
Technical knowledge in reservoir engineering
Knowledge of thermal recovery processes is preferred
Ability to lead projects and collaborate with others
Demonstrated ability to understand and integrate other functional disciplines
Hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same
