Description

Utilizes reservoir engineering principles and interpersonal skills as part of an integrated team of geoscientists and engineers optimizing reservoir performance and supporting economic field development. Leads subsurface evaluations and directly responsible for all reservoir engineering aspects of field development proposals including infill drilling, selection and optimization of the appropriate recovery process (waterflood & EOR), and risk/uncertainity analysis. Develops field reservoir management plans, waterflood (WF) and reservoir rate forecasts, reserves estimates and project implementation plans as required by the business unit. Drives and or supports reservoir surveillance processes to continually monitor and optimize waterfloods and field production. Provides reservoir engineering support to improve reservoir characterization studies using geologic static modeling and reservoir simulation. Keeps abreast of innovative developments in reservoir management and waterflood practices and collaborates with team and service companies to implement practices and capture synergies in technology applications and operations.

Responsibilities:

Reserves Development

  • Leads in the design, implementation and surveillance of waterflood, steam injection pilots and other EOR processes
  • Develops waterflood prediction techniques to aid in evaluation of waterflood performance behavior
  • Designs, implements and supports operations with reservoir development and WF plans to maximize reservoir value
  • Provides advice on implementing new WF projects and expanding existing projects
  • Identifies, participates and supports drilling/workover/conversion projects utilizing reservoir surveillance processes
  • Develops plan with Geologist and Geophysicist for data acquisition needs in support of reservoir studies (seismic, well logs etc.), including project plans and cost estimates; ensures plan is monitored and executed
  • Participates in Post-Assessment of development projects and ensures and learning's are implemented in future Reservoir Management
  • Prioritizes and coordinates WF reservoir surveillance and key data acquisition with Production Engineering
  • Supports and reserves process
  • Develops and monitors annual reservoir production targets. Recognizes deficits or excesses and coordinates action plans, as needed, to restore production levels
  • Monitor & analyze well and overall reservoir performance. Develops life of field depletion plans with strict guidelines regarding the rate of fluid movement in the reservoir

Technical Studies/Advancements

  • Provides reservoir engineering support for a multi discipline integrated RMT
  • participates in business unit and corporate knowledge sharing tools
  • Works with Subsurface study team members in guiding and ensuring objectives are met
  • Proactively identify issues and constructively work to resolve
  • Other duties as directed by Head of RMT and other appropriate management

 

Qualifications:

Education

  • BS Degree or higher in Engineering

Experience

  • Generally 10 years+ experience in the upstream oil and gas industry

Skill

  • Proven success identifying and executing value-added projects; demonstrated leadership of projects preferable
  • Knowledge of reservoir engineering concepts and applications
  • Strong waterflood experience, carbonates and clastics
  • EOR experience desirable, experience in Material Balance, Analysis of SCAL & PCT, PTA
  • Proficient in waterflood management concepts -pattern balancing, setting reservoir pressure targets, monitoring to adjust flood design and experience in setting up WF surveillance work flows
  • Waterflood surveillance (tracers, logging, coring, pressures), VRR determination, injection analysis
  • Knowledge of economic evaluation and business financial metrics
  • Knowledge of key geologic, geophysical and petrophysical concepts and integration with RE concepts
  • Working knowledge of surveillance and production engineering; experience developing surveillance plans
  • Effective in a multi-discipline team environment - creative and collaborative in problem solving
  • A proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to clearly convey concepts and project information orally, in presentations and technical reports, with all levels in the organization including engineers, earth scientists, leaders, and other key stakeholders
  • Has some experience coaching junior staff
