DNO is a Norwegian oil and gas operator focused on the Middle East-North Africa region and the North Sea. Founded in 1971, DNO is Norway’s oldest oil company. With a leading position in terms of reserves and production in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, DNO produces around 110,000 barrels of oil per day from the flagship Tawke field.

Due to increased drilling activity in Kurdistan, DNO is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Development Geoscientist. The Senior Development Geoscientist will be joining an international and dynamic working environment characterized by experienced, skilled and motivated employees. The Senior Development Geoscientist will be based in DNO’s Dubai office and be a key member of the Field Development team.

The Senior Development Geoscientist will support the well planning of predominantly development and water injection wells on DNO’s Kurdistan fields.   The role may also from time to time be asked to assist with exploration and appraisal well planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Target and trajectory determination for development wells
  • Recognising lithology and formational changes using seismic and well data during operations
  • Working closely with the Drilling Team during operations and providing follow up and support, including loading of latest survey data, and reacting to changes in trajectory to quickly respond to changes in well plan
  • VSP planning and follow up
  • Prepare well proposals including gathering the required input from G&G and drilling team
  • Work with Drilling Team to provide updated formation top prediction based on changes in well plan

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Ideally MSc in Geology or Geophysics or, as a minimum, BSc degree in Geology or Geophysics

  • 10+ years’ experience in the E&P Industry
  • Proven track record in planning development wells
  • Confident user of Petrel or Kingdom seismic interpretation packages
  • Experienced of working in compressional tectonic settings
  • Understanding of velocity modelling processes
  • Experienced seismic interpreter
  • Experience of working with both time and depth seismic and an understanding of the different seismic processing steps
  • Data integration at a well log to seismic scale, and ability to recognize and react to changes in lithology whilst drilling
  • Some experience with using static and dynamic reservoir models alongside well planning would be beneficial, but is not essential
