We are currently recruiting for a Senior Development Geophysicist within the Oil & Gas industry to join our global engineering clients’ team based in Aberdeen on a permanent basis.
As a Senior Development Geophysicist, your key responsibilities will be:
Subsurface mapping and the integration of seismic data with geological/well data to develop fit-for-purpose subsurface depth structure maps providing input for reservoir models.
Understand relevant seismic data, identification and maturation of in-field and near-field drilling targets, discussing opportunities for production improvement.
Understand and analysis the delivery of geoscience, whilst providing support during well planning and the operational phase of development drilling.
Team evaluation and mentoring responsibility for seismic interpretation and geophysical activity across the UK business unit.
Coordinate safe and effective Geophysical data acquisition and site surveys.
Work in conjunction with other reservoir engineering, geology and petroleum engineering specialists, in a multi-discipline team approach to reservoir development and production optimisation.
Participate in relevant external reviews, joint venture meetings and other ad-hoc technical meetings.
Extensive experience as a development geoscientist with an E&P Operator working on operated field development projects and producing assets.
Strong interpretive geophysical skills including classical seismic interpretation, structural geology, seismic attribute analysis, rock physics, depth conversion and well-tie analysis.
A history of building structural frameworks for geological reservoir modelling (e.g. Petrel).
Experience in analysing and predicting potential problems in seismic datasets and finding and carrying out a solution.
Geological operations and well planning experience, whilst also having good knowledge of drilling and production operations.
Experience of 4D seismic acquisition and interpretation.
Proven ability to bring forward clear, business-focussed ideas for improvement and appropriate work programmes to influence the business and improve production.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently to produce high quality and fit-for-purpose subsurface interpretations and maps on schedule, as required to evaluate new development and in-field opportunities.
Qualifications / systems knowledge
A degree in Geophysics, Geology or a related discipline.
Post-graduate qualification in Petroleum Geoscience, Geophysics or related discipline, preferable.
Excellent knowledge of seismic interpretation and mapping software and specialist seismic attribute analysis.
Practical experience of reservoir model building and an understanding of how geophysics relates to reservoir engineering and petroleum economics.
Have a focussed and systematic approach to uncertainty management, able to work with limited data.
Excellent knowledge of latest industry innovations and technology.
