This position is a key member of the subsurface team and a visible contributor to all development geology work done for all the assets.
The main mission is to carry out geological development studies integrating geological, petrophysical, geophysical and reservoir data to characterize the development project's reservoir/field, all in accordance with Safety and Environment standards and other recommended practices and techniques, ensuring the quality of the evaluation.
Minimum: Master’s degree in Geology
5-15 years of G&G; subsurface experience from various projects
Software skills: Petrel
Additional requirements: English level above medium in writing/speaking, experience from Norwegian Continental Shelf
Communication: The candidate must be able to proactively get their key message across to the organization and to other stakeholders
Interpersonal Skills: The candidate must be able to effectively collaborate towards other team members, functions and stakeholders.
Critical and innovative thinking: The candidate must have knowledge of the upstream industry and be able to use their skills in the context of developing products to higher technical excellence. The candidate should be able to analyses data and information and to present conclusions/observations clearly.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND WORK TASKS:
The ideal candidate will have 5-15 years of experience from a variety of projects in all phases and is well familiar with the oil and gas business processes.
This position has the following responsibilities:
Visualize and evaluate geological risks for the definition of possible drilling locations and their classification.
Prepare information and documentation necessary to support well designs and for defining the geological prognoses and their data acquisition program, in accordance with key indicators (KPIs) to prioritize their implementation, help in the finalization of the geological prognosis of the well and in the data acquisition program.
Plan the reservoir characterization and data acquisition studies to improve knowledge of them, reduce subsurface uncertainties and improve the reservoir model.
Monitor the drilling operations, monitor the planned versus the acquired data (logs, samples, sample cores, etc.), to evaluate the well results and recommend thenecessary corrective actions.
Interpret geological data and integrate the information from other disciplines to improve global reservoir characterization results (geological, petrophysical, reservoirs, etc). Prepare integrated geological interpretation reports with graphic illustrations (maps, diagrams, tables).
Update the geological interpretation of the reservoir / field using new data/information from new wells. Provide new input for updating/generating models.
Compile/organize subsurface data (geological, petrophysical, reservoirs) to guarantee the maintenance of the project database. Evaluate the data's uncertainty and quality (including geodesy), to propose corrective action that will minimize their risk.
Provide input for Reservoir Engineer Uncertainty Analysis for the field, with focus on static model parameters and workflow. Validate dynamic uncertainty analysis properly incorporating static & geological parameters/assumptions.
Carry out the calibration of the well sample cores and determine their confidence levels, including the relationship between the rock, well logs and fluid characterization to minimize deviations from the evaluations.
Collect and provide key data for 2D and 3D modelling and characterization of the reservoir, to determine the characteristics of the reservoir and the structuraluncertainties (structural configuration, including faults and fractures) and their impact on the Gross Rock Volume, in-place hydrocarbons and recoverable resources, and extract conclusions from these studies.
Interpret the results from new wells, providing appropriate recommendations to management for their evaluation.
Assist on preparation, coordination and presentation of field´s reserves during Reserves Internal and External Audits.
Take part in preparing the evaluation and post-drilling reports. Compile the lessons learned, best practices and key indicators for future projects
Participate in the updating and evaluation of field resources/reserves in order to determine their economic value. Prepare Technical Specifications to support the process of purchasing materials and services.
