This position will report to the Chief Geophysicist and be located in Houston.

You will be part of a small team of Geophysics experts within the Technical Support organization that services Oxy’s geoscientists worldwide in their task to expedite and optimize the economic recovery of hydrocarbons from some of the largest, most challenging mostly onshore reservoirs in the world. The Geophysicist will be responsible for providing seismic processing geophysical support for all departments in the form of (1) performing bespoke in-house seismic processing and (2) supervising and providing quality assurance of external seismic processing projects, under the guidance of Oxy’s lead seismic processing specialist. The successful candidate should have a keen desire to apply new innovative and off the shelf workflows to improve the quality of Oxy’s processed seismic data.
Master’s Degree in Geophysics with 6+ years petroleum industry experience.Minimum of 6 years of experience in production seismic data processing.Proven expert in onshore seismic data processing. Permian Basin, Middle East, and/or Columbian experience would be highly advantageous.Significant experience running / managing large, complex seismic processing projects.Expert in seismic processing fundamentals (wavelet processing, deconvolution, statics, multiple and noise attenuation, PSTM and PSDM, survey merging).Knowledgeable about advanced seismic processing workflows (RTM, LSM, FWI, Compressive Sensing, Deblending, Rank Reduction Filtering).Experienced in offshore seismic data processing (towed streamer, OBC, OBN).Coding experience (Fortran, Matlab, Python, etc.) for workflow development.Knowledgeable about impact on amplitude fidelity of seismic acquisition and processing steps.Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities with the ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information.Creative thinker with a desire to challenge the status quo and conventional thinking with the ability to implement new ideas, processes and technologies.Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and possess the ability to mentor others.Strong communication skills with the ability to present work product in an effective manner.Ability to manage multiple technically challenging assignments concurrently and meet tight deadlines. Must have clear understanding of modern QC processes.Experience using PreStackPRO, OpenCPS, Omega or SeisSpace software.Experience using Petrel or Landmark interpretation software.
