Golder Associates’ continued growth has resulted in the need for a Junior Project Geologist to join our community of high performing engineers, scientists, and business professionals. This opportunity will be based in our Calgary, Alberta office. Our clients in the global mining industry expect the best from us and you will help us deliver it by providing high‑calibre technical solutions for the development of mineral projects in a safe, cost-effective, and responsible manner.

An overview of your role will include:
Demonstrate a “Safety First” focus;
Conduct a full range of mine engineering functions;
Perform geological data compilation, validation and interpretation, prepare geological databases, prepare geological maps and sections and perform geological modelling in a variety of industry standard geological modeling software packages. This will require working on projects with some supervision by a Professional Geologist;
Apply Golder’s Project Management standards to manage all aspects of projects;
Work collaboratively with engineers and technical staff to develop the skills and procedures needed to effectively deliver engineering and consulting assignments;
Maintain a balance of at least 85% chargeable hours;
Learn to identify, develop, and follow through on new business opportunities;
Continually apply a high standard of ethical behaviour to promote and support Golder’s Core Values and Culture.

Your background will include:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Geology;
Registration, or have the ability to register, as a Professional Geologist or Geologist in Training (GIT) in Canada;
A minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience with an emphasis on exploration, grade control and resource evaluation. Oil sands, mine operations, and underground exploration and resource geology experience are assets.
Previous experience as a consulting geologist or with a technical services role within an exploration or mining company;
Previous experience working on technical mining projects and contributing to technical reports;
Appropriate experience in utilizing geological data analysis and modelling software packages such as MineScape, Datamine, MineSight 3D, Vulcan, Surpac, Gemcom, Leapfrog, ArcGIS, Strater, and GlobalMapper;
Fluency in English with fluency in other languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Portuguese) considered an asset;
Excellent communication skills including report writing and presentation skills;
Ability to travel internationally and to remote project locations.
