Reservoir Engineer III - Reservoir Simulation Engineer

Tracking Code 21988 Job Description Aera Energy Services Company seeks Reservoir Engineer III-Reservoir Simulation Engineer in Bakersfield, CA.

 

Detailed reservoir description and predictive performance for reservoir description and economic analyses necessary in the evaluation of target reservoirs for additional recovery via primary, secondary and tertiary recovery methods. Provide numerical support for decision making in the proposed enhanced recovery projects. History-match historical primary and secondary recovery production and injection for specific target reservoirs. Evolve simulation model based on decision path and newly acquired data. Model predictive performance and multiple scenarios for injection of steam and/or miscible gas. Optimize development and injection strategy to maximize economic outputs. Recommend development parameters for secondary and tertiary recovery as applicable. Create and/or modify geomodel-to-simulation and economic work processes that can be utilized to meet major project's deadlines. Work closely with a team of reservoir engineer, geologist, petro-physicist, operation, completions, drilling and facility engineers as required, to understand reservoir history and future performance.

 

Required Skills Knowledge of oil industry reservoir simulation. Knowledge of integrated reservoir studies using advanced reservoir characterization such as Petrel or Gocad. Understanding of geology, reservoir rock and fluid properties. Understanding of geostatistics and application to reservoir models. Knowledge of thermal-compositional simulation technology. Understanding of thermal and isothermal recovery process physics, geomechanics and miscible gas displacements. Understanding of economics and the principles of cash flow analysis. Understanding of a wide array of recovery techniques and performances analyses. Ability to perform decline curve analysis and to report reserves. Knowledge of programming, scripting and High Performance Computing technology on Windows and Linux environments. Must also have authority to work permanently in the U.S.

Required Experience Requires a Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering and 3 years of reservoir simulation experience. Employer will accept a Doctorate degree in Petroleum Engineering in lieu of the Master's degree and 3 years of experience.
