Job Profile Summary

This key advisor position resides within BP’s Global Modelling Team (GMT). GMT performs all of BPs major model building and a large part of its forecasting underpinning major investments. The team has a goal of transforming decision quality in the Upstream, by bringing global experience & capability together with the coolest of technologies, with a collaborative agile partnership approach with its regional customers.
The Reservoir Simulation advisor will work with other advisors in GMT and SMEs within the team, to drive model quality through coaching, support & assurance. The individual will also be co-responsible for framing BP’s simulation strategy, driving capability with the company through its emerging and existing talent, and working with other stakeholders within BP in the subsurface arena.
A good understanding of simulator architecture across a range of software packages & the external vendor landscape is essential given the GMT is also tasked with Technology development in modelling, creating the subsurface workflows of the future.
The advisor will be responsible for providing highly advanced reservoir engineering expertise, leading on a wide range of activities from reserves estimation and reporting to field development planning and the development of opportunities for production growth, whilst contributing to strategic development and developing the technical capability required to sustain business delivery. Hence a good knowledge of reservoir management practices and reservoir development experience is also essential.

Key Accountabilities:
Providing coaching, support and assurance to the GMT & Regional staff on complex model building expertise
Reservoir simulator and modelling workflow strategies
Building organisational capability in reservoir modelling
Understanding the reservoir modelling market landscape
Advising on internal and external workflow development
Essential Education: Science or Engineering Degree

Essential Experience:
At least 15 years’ experience in a mixture of technology development, reservoir development and reservoir management environments with accountability for reservoir modelling projects and strategy development
Good understanding of the Upstream Oil & Gas business value chain
Proven experience in coaching & support of staff
Assurance of subsurface work programs
Skillful application of advanced workflows in the areas of EoS, EOR, CCUS
Wide experience of reservoir simulation packages
Desirable Criteria: Mixture of Operator and Vendor experience
