Our Energy team is currently seeking a Reservoir Engineering Intern to work full time during Summer 2018. This position is located at our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.
Our Energy Group in the Environment & Infrastructure Business Unit specializes in providing innovative approaches to solving difficult problems in the areas of oil and gas exploration and production and using or storing carbon dioxide generated during energy production and use. We use advanced earth science tools, methods, and models to characterize geologic systems for the oil and gas industry and for long term storage of CO2, including enhanced hydrocarbon recovery. Our clients include large and small oil and gas companies, engineering companies, electric utilities, and federal and state governments.
As a Reservoir Engineering Intern, the selected individual will evaluate secondary recovery potential for a depleted oil field in Ohio. Work will be with our oil and gas exploration and production, carbon utilization and storage programs and pipeline programs. Examples of responsibilities based on current or anticipated projects include:
Building a dynamic reservoir model using geologic inputs,
Assigning rock and fluid properties from field data and/or correlations
Performing history match of primary production data,
Simulating various water/gas injection scenarios to optimize incremental oil recovery, and
Analysis of project economics
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related field (chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, geoscience, hydrogeology)
GPA of 3.0 or above
Strong background in porous media flow modeling concepts
Experience with history matching of primary production and simulation of immiscible secondary recovery projects using ECLIPSE, IMEX, or similar reservoir modeling tools
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
Related work experience (paid or unpaid) in the engineering discipline
