As a member of our Exploration and Production (E&P;) team, you will work in close collaboration with E&P; Reservoir Engineers and Geoscientists, providing peer reviews, peer assists and reservoir engineering support of regional development, exploration, business development and new venture projects, informal mentoring of junior engineers and developing reservoir engineering standard methodologies and guidelines.
You will use your expertise to:
Assess the reasonableness of the reservoir engineering input parameters (fluid properties, rock properties, pressures, temperatures), appropriateness of the database, reservoir engineering tool (simulation, analytical, analog) utilized, depletion plan, resource assessment, life of field production profiles, and overall quality of the technical evaluation
Assess the overall reasonableness of the resource distribution – range of the formation volume factor and recovery factor, including the depletion plan and corresponding development assumptions, and identify any subsurface and reservoir engineering risks associated with the project and provide recommendations for further work
Be the subsurface representative, if needed, in integrated peer reviews and present the risks identified in the subsurface reviews, ensure that the subsurface depletion plan is consistent with the overall development plan of the project – i.e. consistent development assumptions between all disciplines
Ensure the level of reservoir engineering work done is consistent with Suncor’s subsurface requirements relative to the project stage
Provide reservoir engineering guidance and technical expertise to the regional asset teams
Provide reservoir engineering support for evaluation requests from other business units/teams, including Exploration, New Ventures and Commercial (business development projects)
Provide informal mentoring to junior engineers
Lead or assist in development of reservoir engineering best practices and guidelines

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
10 years of related reservoir engineering experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Your Professional Engineering designation (P. Eng) or immediately eligible for APEGA membership
A deep understanding of fundamental reservoir engineering principles
Full competency in reservoir simulation with Petrel/Eclipse

Preference for:
Effective collaboration skills with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
Familiarity with gated process for project governance
International experience, particularly in offshore development
Probing effectively for both upside and downside when evaluating a project
Constantly asking what could go wrong, checking for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and anticipating potential problems
Holding others accountable, and expect others to do the same
A self-starter with high work ethic
A continuous improvement mindset and you are able to seek greater knowledge and understanding of the systems, process and hazards in the workplace
Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:
You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
