Description

Advances in horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing have revolutionized the successful development of shale oil resources. However, ongoing shale development increasingly provides new challenges as additional reservoir horizons or new areas are developed. Prior development, depletion and primary recovery have had material impacts on the reservoirs that affect ongoing development. In this position the Reservoir Engineer will lead Pioneer in the technical analysis of development or redevelopment strategies, including EOR opportunities, for the multiple shale reservoirs of the Midland Basin.

The Reservoir Engineer will be responsible for assembling geological, production and completions data to construct simulation models that represent the hydraulic fracturing effects on reservoirs, and the subsequent production performance. Practical factors, such as prior development, prior completions, artificial lift, production infrastructure and potential for enhanced recovery by various means must be considered. The reservoir engineer will be responsible for identifying and utilizing the most appropriate means to accomplish these goals, including adopting new or different simulation approaches, and justifying new monitoring technologies or data acquisition programs to promote knowledge and understanding that leads to higher economic recovery of Pioneer resources. Job Duties: Complete advanced reservoir engineering and modeling studies to support development planning, implementation and optimization of shale development with particular emphasis on well-spacing and stacking/staggering, completions, depletion, development timing and sequencing, well interference and mitigation, and enhanced recovery techniques.
