• The Maersk Oil Research & Technology Centre is Maersk Oil’s first global research and technology centre tasked with developing cutting-edge applications for the Al Shaheen field while supporting Qatar’s 2030 Vision of a knowledge-based future. The $100 million USD centre, dubbed the MO-RTC, is located at the Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), which is supported by other industrial majors including oil companies. The MO-RTC will focus on research that will create practical and applicable solutions to clearly-defined problems in oil and gas production.
• The MO-RTC will divide its work into four streams – developing applications for its renowned long horizontal wells to improve oil recovery, defining and investigating new Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods, Providing Digital Rock Physics technical expertise and researching Qatar’s marine ecosystem to help reduce Maersk Oil’s environmental footprint. The MO-RTC has already begun work, initiating field trials of acoustic sensing in wells with fibre optical cables, electron microscopy on cuttings while drilling and of a patented technology for measuring water injection profiles in horizontal wells. In fact, the team has already notched up eight patents so far. The centre has also already teamed up with a number of international and local partners, including the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) to study improved oil recovery and Texas A&M University Qatar on EOR-related topics.

•Provide reservoir and/or chemical engineering technology solutions to various projects supported by the MO-RTC team in Al Shaheen, Danish Business Units, Chemical, Low Salinity Oil/EOR, and reservoir modelling. Reservoir Engineering aspects of this job include, but are not limited to the below in studies section 2.
•Evaluate existing and identify new strategies to improve oil recovery
•Design, initiate and execute experimental research programs
•Data analysis of experimental results
•Participate in co-managing the project portfolio
•Contribute to the teams work on long horizontal well technology and application.
•Perform reservoir simulation studies supporting further technology development
•Planning and execution for field trials, business case writing
•Propose and mature field tests of technology concepts
•Investigate and evaluate technology concepts relevant for the development of reservoirs operated by Maersk Oil.
•Initiate, plan and execute research projects at universities, other research institutions and/or operating companies.
•Produce abstracts, conference papers and reports documenting the study and promoting the MO-RTC profile
•Contribute to inventions and patent writings
•Initiate laboratory and pilot scale testing of technology concepts
Who we are looking for
•BSc. in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering or other science discipline
•M.Sc. or PhD in petroleum or chemical engineering is desirable
•A minimum of 4-5 years of oil industry experience.
Should also have
•Programming capabilities in Matlab and Visual Basic is preferred
•Strong reservoir simulation skills - preferably Eclipse
•Nodal analysis - preferably PETEX software
•PVT analysis and preferably modelling
•Reservoir modeling for carbonate reservoirs
•Integrated asset modeling
