Denbury is currently searching for a Reservoir Engineer to work at the corporate office located in Plano, Texas. The position will support Development Design as a Decision Modeling Engineer responsible for creating optimal field development plans using Decision Analysis tools and workflows.
Work with Business Units and other leaders to define objective and scope of project to be evaluated
Facilitate groups or teams to fully describe the elements of the system used to evaluate the objective, gather applicable inputs and ranges of uncertainty for each component in the system
Build mathematical models describing the previously defined system that enables scenario evaluation, optimization and probabilistic analysis
Evaluate available scenarios to select best alternatives for recommendation to management
Build presentations that describe recommended design and potential outcomes
Assist Business Units with providing forecasts for various corporate processes including Long Range Planning and Reserves
Maintain and improve decision analysis tools and processes
All other duties as assigned
Experience: 3 - 5 years or more engineering experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. Exposure to CO2 EOR, Corporate Planning, economic evaluation, mathematical modeling and probabilistic forecasting a plus.
Education: B.S. Engineering (Petroleum preferred), additional coursework in Business, Finance or MBA a plus
Skills: Capacity to learn, design and communicate technically complex models quickly, highly proficient in MS Excel. Proficiency in VBA, Access, SQL and Spotfire a plus.
Additional Requirements: Strong work ethic, positive attitude, flexible work schedule, excellent communication skills, ability to work both independently or as a team member, manage multiple simultaneous tasks while adhering to priority and deadline constraints
ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Work will primarily be conducted in an office environment; travel may be required to district and field offices and/or oil and gas production facilities, with the occasional need to wear personal protective equipment. Position requires the ability to frequently communicate information and to manage the possible stress of an office environment. Work may include being stationary for long periods of time, with occasional movement about the office. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds is required. Position requires constant operation and viewing of a computer screen and other office machinery.
