Description

The Permian Planning Engineer will support (i) Permian region budgeting and planning processes and (ii) Permian region Reserve review process.  Responsibilities will also include evaluations of capital performance, economic assessments of major programs, and support of regional management and teams.  This position is  intended to be a 2-3 year rotational assignment, a development opportunity for  early to mid-career engineers to gain necessary business experience and acumen.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Support the Budgeting & Planning Processes
  • Assist in the tracking of capital program key attributes and technical success factors
  • Assist in the preparation of regional documentation in support of Investor Relations
  • Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities
  • Work as liaison between the regional and corporate office
  • Other duties as assigned

 

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

  • S. degree in Petroleum, Geology, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering is required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of applicable engineering experience

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Solid understanding of engineering economic evaluations
  • Advanced knowledge and practical application of volumetric calculations, decline curve reserve determinations, appropriate analogue techniques and material balance assessments
  • Experience with a variety of reservoir types, depletion scenarios and development scenarios
  • An operations background with working in a multi-disciplinary team is a plus
  • Experience with conventional oil and gas reservoirs and unconventional resource plays. Exposure to horizontal drilling, hydraulic fracturing, and multi-basin experience is a plus
  • Competency with Aries or other economic evaluation software programs
  • Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with industry/company software including: Spotfire, AFEN, Wellview, & Data Cube training is a plus
  • Driven, enthusiastic, and passionate

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to advance multiple projects simultaneously; takes a multi-disciplinary approach to projects
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills including: written, verbal and formal presentation

  • Actively transfer knowledge to colleagues and management
