Do you want to be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary subsurface team on one of Suncor’s in situ assets? As a Reservoir Engineer, you will collaborate with a multi-functional team consisting of technical specialists in Geology, Geophysics, Reservoir Engineering and Production Engineering as well as the Operations, Technology Team, Regional Development and subject matter experts.
You will use your expertise to:
Optimize and develop a SAGD depletion plan for MacKay River
Support and adhere to subsurface process safety
Provide strategy and support for optimization of asset’s immediate and long-term reservoir performance
Build and maintain reservoir simulation models
Monitor and analyze data from existing SAGD and observation wells while looking for ways to continuously improve surveillance practices and strategies
Support design and development of winter programs and well test programs
Conduct detailed reservoir studies and associated economic analysis to maintain long-term depletion strategy
Support the development and implementation of new technology pilots
Contribute to continuous improvement of technical process within the reservoir team
Provide regulatory support for operational and growth applications

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
Seven years of related industry experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Been registered or are immediately eligible for registration with the association of professional engineers and geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
Sound understanding of key reservoir engineering principles in both thermal and conventional
Reservoir simulation experience with proficiency with key software platforms including CMG STARS, Petrel and other industry simulation software
Phenomenal organization and communication skills, and the ability to work in a team environment
A track record of continuous improvement and creative process enhancements
Strong performance in multi-functional teams is essential

Preference for:
Experience in shallow SAGD and caprock integrity evaluation including mini fracs and geomechanics
Experience in field development planning
Strong collaboration skills that enables you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:
You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
