General Information

The Reservoir Engineering and Geosciences group, within the Storage Technical Services team, is seeking an Engineer to work either in the Troy, MI Regional office or Charleston office, WV. You will be responsible for applying your skills to solve a variety of engineering problems, and participating in decision support for projects and operations. The primary responsibilities of this position are to maintain the integrity and reliability of storage well and reservoir assets; assess and secure gas inventory and predict and monitor storage performance; collaborate with other integrity program stakeholders, operations and business stakeholders in the storage assets to promote good decision-making and asset management planning regarding the storage assets; annual gas inventory analysis and disposition statement; monitoring of pressure-volume and pressure management, and provision of operating guidelines.
This position may be filled in either Troy, Michigan or Charleston, West Virginia.

Peform field production/performance analysis, and well performance/well test analysis;
Monitor and predict storage field performance;
Monitor pressure-volume and pressure management;
Provide operational guidelines and performance forecasts;
Respond to safety and performance issues;
Document field and well history;
Annual gas inventory analysis and disposition statement;
Conduct comprehensive integrity assessments of storage wells and reservoirs;
Develop individual well and reservoir risk management plans that meet internal technical and external regulatory requirements;
Evaluate operating programs and alternatives for well work, including cost-benefit analysis;
Providing technical support/analysis for: audits, regulatory requirements, business development, corporate agreements, and legal issues;
Interact with Field Operations and Commercial Operations to maintain good functionality and operability of our storage assets;
Actively participate in table top/mock drills;
Maintaining an inclusive, collaborative work environment that results in quality products;
Other tasks as required.

Qualifications and Education
The individual must have a solid technical background, including an understanding of the fundamentals of fluid flow in porous media and pipe, and knowledge of probability/statistical principles;
The individual should demonstrate strong analytical skills while being able to exercise judgment and make sound decisions (be able to prepare and present comparisons and consider alternatives);
The individual must be a highly motivated person with good habits and attitudes (sense of urgency, results oriented, shows initiative, time management skills) and a flexible, agile learner able to adapt fundamental technical skills to the specific functional arena required of this role;
Ability to quickly adapt to the changing business environment and dynamic business requirements;
Understand organizational relationships and work effectively within them;
The candidate is able to accept constructive criticism, learn through coaching, and share the learning with others;
Strong communication skills are required; technical report writing will be a significant aspect of this position.

Education / Experience
Bachelor of Science in Petroleum, Chemical, or Geologic Engineering, with a strong math background;
4+ years of reservoir engineering or related work experience;
Gas storage experience preferred;
Ability to apply engineering principles to identify issues and develop solutions;
Excellent computer skills;
Risk management experience preferred.
This position requires candidates to:
Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record;
Be available for extended work hours including long work days/weeks, and some weekends during project work and other initiatives;
Carry a cell phone and to work a rotating on-call schedule;
Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home.
Work approximately 75-90% in an office environment, 10-25% in field under all weather conditions.
Depending on the qualifications of the applicants, the successful candidate may be offered a position at a more appropriate level and/or ladder.
