Description

The Reservoir Engineer position is responsible for execution and management of the overall performance of the Production program in our dry gas field, maintenance of reserves database and oversight of the reserve report process. He/she provides conceptual ideas and cost estimates for projects that improve production efficiency. He/she continuously works on improving cost and cycle time efficiency through technical research and offset data analysis. He/she continually fortifies reserves database through production and decline curve analysis. He/she requires limited technical supervision on a daily basis and utilizes available resources on a frequent basis.

Position Description:
Carry out reservoir studies as part of an integrated team and perform reservoir engineering functions including decline curve analysis, material balance, volumetrics, pressure transient analysis, reservoir modeling, etc.

Detailed analysis of output from reserves system to insure conformance with financial and operating statistics.

Approve completion of Company mid-year and year-end SEC reserve estimates and provide to senior management. Provide project economic analyses as needed to support these reports.

Help achieve financial objectives by sound management of financial resources through budget preparation, monitoring of costs, and analysis and/or justification for the use of financial resources.

Preparing and generating detailed reserves calculations and reports

Asset development in the Permian basin, which includes development, reserve forecasts, AFEs, project economics, and production optimization.

Collaborate with technical team on well performance studies, completion optimization, artificial lift strategies, facility requirements and planning, and some acquisition opportunities.

Support and guide field level projects to meet drill schedule requirements.

Estimate reserves and forecasting for property evaluations and development planning

Carry out reservoir simulation studies to optimize recoveries

Predict reserves and performance for existing and proposed wells

Develop, recommend and apply reservoir optimization techniques

Develop P1-P3 sensitivities on acreage with financial analyst team

Develop cost-effective reservoir monitoring and surveillance programs

Perform reservoir characterization studies

Analyze pressure transients

Analyze production profiles and decline curve sensitivities

Analyze the economics and risk assessments of development programs.

Estimate reserves for producing properties

Perform monthly reserve reports and directly communicate with 3rd party reserve engineers

Recommend and initiate data mining techniques to improve reserve forecasting

Recommend and implement software programs and systems that integrate with other software tools that Inflection is using and building

Other special projects required by the Company from time to time

Evaluating development, periodic exploration step out/scenarios, reserve profiles, and profitability on existing properties or potential acquisitions

Monitoring drilling results and preparing/updating asset type curve scenarios for economic runs

Identifying and assessing the economic impact of drilling and workover opportunities

Performing audits and technical reviews on projects at key milestones

Performing reserve calculations, reporting, and documentation with corporate engineering and third-party reservoir auditors

Working with other disciplines to delineate and optimize the development of resources

Assisting with mentoring reservoir engineers

Evaluating oil and gas assets with discounted cash flows and identifying deal specific value drivers and risks

Producing and presenting technical presentation materials for management ranging from recent development updates to stand alone valuations

Interpreting well results in the context of reservoir fluids, completion design, flowback strategy, and artificial lift installation from a reservoir engineering standpoint

Monitoring and analyzing competitor data, development strategies industry trends to help build internal development models to assist with valuing acreage inside and outside of Conchos operated areas

Working closely with Exploration, BD, or asset team geologists to interpret well results and assign estimated upside value of additional zones inside and outside Concho operated areas

Performing audits, lookbacks, and technical reviews on projects at key milestones

Qualifications/Experience:
A minimum of 7 years experience as a Reservoir Engineer for an unconventional oil and gas operator preferably in the Permian Basin

Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineer or related discipline required

Experience in reserve estimations under SEC rules using decline curve analysis, production surveillance, and economic evaluations.

Proficient knowledge in planning/forecasting tools such as Actenum and Enersight, Aries, IHS Harmony, MS Office Suite and familiarity with Spotfire, Tableau, Rodstar and XSPOC.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships through strong communication with employees, supervisors and other departments.

Ability to work multiple, diverse projects in several areas through effective time management.
