Background
Great Western Oil and Gas is a Denver based independent exploration and production company focused on the Rocky Mountains. Today, we have active operations in the Denver-Julesburg Basin in Colorado. This role leads our corporate reserves process, stewards our non-operated assets, and performs other duties as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

As the reserves engineer, leads the quarterly and annual reserves report in conjunction with the reserves technician and 3rd party auditors. Shepherds the process to be on-time, accurate, and clearly communicated with all stakeholders.
As non-operated asset engineer, monitors and works to optimize non-operated asset development. Tracks well status and elections, builds relationships with other operators, works trades/farmouts/divestitures, and drives inputs for both reserves and various planning processes.
A&D;: leads evaluations of various acquisitions and other deals in support of corporate transactions, in rotation with other reservoir engineers.
Technical studies: conduct studies of well performance, completion design, and other projects to support development activities with a variety of tools.
Work closely with and direct reservoir engineering technicians in support roles.
Mentor and train less experience engineers as needed

No supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements:

Minimum 5 years experience in reservoir engineering
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, petroleum preferred
Previous experience in SEC reserves reporting and/or DJ Basin strongly preferred
Broad knowledge of unconventional development concepts and experience to apply them in a dynamic development program
Self-starter who can recognize problems before they flare up and proactively address them
Strong collaborator both within the reservoir function and across functions like Land, Geology, Operations, Finance, and Accounting
Expertise in Excel and ARIES required
Proficiency in Spotfire, IHS Harmony, Access, or Enersight preferred
Programming background and aptitude (experience or education) preferred
Must have the right to work in the United States and be available for in-person interviews in Denver, Colorado
