Background
Great Western Oil and Gas is a Denver based independent exploration and production company focused on the Rocky Mountains. Today, we have active operations in the Denver-Julesburg Basin in Colorado. The Northern Asset Reservoir Engineer will maximize cash flow and reserves value of the assets in their area. Specifically, they will be responsible for asset optimization, business planning, A&D;, reserves, and technical studies in their area. Additionally, they are responsible for leading quarterly and annual reserves reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

Asset optimization: works closely with Land, Geology, and Operations to optimize the economic development of the Northern Asset area.
Reserves: leads the quarterly and annual reserves report in conjunction with the reserves technician and 3rd party auditors. Shepherds the process to be on-time, accurate, and clearly communicated with all stakeholders.
A&D;: leads evaluations of acquisitions, divestitures, and trades for their area, focused on finding ways to make consistently accretive transactions.
Business planning: works closely with the lead planning engineer to build the annual business plan as well as recurring updates. Advocates for optimized development plans for their area.
Technical studies: conduct studies of well performance, completion design, and other projects to support other activities with a holistic toolkit of techniques
Work closely with and direct reservoir engineering technicians in support roles
Mentor and train less experienced engineers as needed

No supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required, Petroleum Engineering preferred
Minimum 5 years’ experience in petroleum or reservoir engineering
Broad knowledge of unconventional development concepts and experience to apply them in a dynamic development program
Self-starter who can recognize problems before they flare up and proactively address them
Strong collaborator both within the reservoir function and across functions like Land, Geology, Operations, Finance, and Accounting
Expertise in Excel and ARIES (or other economic software) required
Previous experience in SEC reserves reporting and/or DJ Basin strongly preferred
Proficiency in Spotfire, IHS Harmony, and Enersight preferred
Programming background and aptitude (experience or education) preferred
