Background
Great Western Oil and Gas is a Denver based independent exploration and production company focused on the Rocky Mountains. Today, we have active operations in the Denver-Julesburg Basin in Colorado.

The successful candidate in this position will be responsible for working closely with geoscientists, operations, and other disciplines to optimize development for the assigned asset area to maximize cash flows and generate reserve value. They will also lead A&D; evaluations in their area. The candidate will be expected to focus heavily on teamwork and collaboration with all disciplines in the company to ensure constant alignment with the corporate strategy and core values.

Responsibilities

Cooperatively works with other engineering disciplines, geologists, regulatory, and land personnel to effectively manage and optimize the development of assets.
Work with geologists and production engineers to review the producing properties to improve well productivity and enhance operating and capital efficiency
Responsible for providing/updating reserves estimates and forecasts for the Southern asset on a quarterly basis to support the reserve reporting process and coordinate with production engineers to ensure alignment and accuracy of production profiles.
Evaluate acquisition, trade, and divestiture opportunities in the asset area and make recommendations.
Support the annual budget and planning cycles. Advocate for optimized development plans in their area.
Work closely with reservoir engineering technicians in support roles
Demonstrate commitment to safety and environmental compliance and Great Western core values in all job aspects.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, petroleum preferred
Minimum 5 years’ experience acquisition, evaluation, and reservoir activities.
DJ Basin experience preferred
Able to efficiently analyze complex economics with strong understanding of reserve classification definitions, economic modeling, and fair market value metrics.
Able to think creatively to enhance reserve potential.
Must have strong leadership and communication skills
Must be able to work as a team player who interacts well with all levels of the company from senior management to field personnel.
Expertise in Excel and ARIES required
Proficiency in Access, Spotfire, IHS Harmony, and Enersight preferred
