Our client is a global group of energy and petrochemicals companies.
The Reservoir Engineer Conventional Oil and Gas (COG) Russia is critical position in Shell Russia Technical team. The purpose of this position is to drive value delivery over different time horizons and responsibility for technical inputs into Business Plan, Reserves Reporting and Investment decisions for the COG Russia Performance Unit.
COG Russia includes opportunities across the full spectrum of the ORP Phases (new business development, exploration, identify, assess, concept select, define, execute, operate) requiring ambitious and fast learning person with strong analytical skills.
He/she monitors the alignment between Shell and JV development and WRFM strategies and actual performance. Coordinates P&T; support where required of the SPD and KMPA ventures. Discusses performance and proposed actions with JV and partner building strong relationships prepared for future growth.
A key task is to protect and enhance Shell’s reputation, interests and value through assurance of development and WRFM plans, including new opportunities.
The role is a part of the IG-Russia organization reporting to Shell Russia VP Development, but the focus of the role is UPN business in Russia
The Reservoir Engineer COG Russia regularly attends SPD and KMPA Technical Committee meetings and working group meetings.
He/she maintains constant communication with JV staff, Shell Secondees in JV and partner (Gazprom-neft). Ensures quality briefing, advises and supports on technical matters VP Development and GM COG Russia. Discusses potential issues with JV before the Board and Committees to get to an alignment.
Drive the personal and process safety agenda from the Shell side; monitor and support progress on key safety related topics such as HSSE improvement themes, follow-up to incidents, process safety, safety in projects.
Assess growth opportunities, cost estimates, project schedules, production performance, WRFM plans and progress, technical issues. Review data provided by JVs and based on independent analysis, formulate credible action plans/scenarios to help SPD improve its business and KMPA to grow its business. Maintain clear risk mitigation plans. Presents COG Russia view and obtains functional approval related to development, production, WRFM during Business Plan, ARPR and Investment approvals.
Be key contributor in preparing Group Investment Proposals (GIP), Shell Business plan and ARPR submission, aggregate inputs and ensure timely and complaint submissions. Identify and manage related risks (volumes estimation risks impact Reserves). Manage functional assurance. Manage technical information: data received from JVs, production forecasts, etc. Manage entry of production forecasts in Resource One.
Driver new technologies implementations in JVs where applicable and brings value: EOR, HTR Resources, Digitalization, etc.
SPD is a 50%/50% Non-Operated JV between Shell and GazpromNeft company, developing three fields in Western Siberia with regular waterflood patterns and producing ~120 kbbl/d. Up to date over 1200 wells drilled, drilling ~100 wells per year with 4 rigs (holding record for the fastest well drilled in Shell). SPD has top quartile waterflood performance and is a recognized leader in WRFM. While being a mature field in its decline phase since 2011, SPD managed to arrest production decline and maintain plateau production for several years owing to an extensive and very successful WRFM program as well as new drilling based on new seismic interpretations. Newly identified project (South Hub) passed FID in July 2019.
Keep personal and process safety in focus as the foundation of Shell’s NOV Asset Management.
Find alignment with Gazprom-neft whilst protecting Shell’s interests in the ventures and the partner relationship. Work with partners, JVs and relevant support functions to achieve the Shell drivers for the projects, namely 1. Personal and Process safety, 2. Unit Development Cost.
Ensure close contact with Shell secondees in SPD and KMPA
Keep SPD and KMPA on track to deliver on their promises, through active participation in committees, personal interventions with the correct mix of challenge and support and by providing appropriate advice to other Board/Committee members.
Mature the hydrocarbon resource base. Pursue economic growth opportunities and provide business support & technical assurance to growth projects.
Keep UPN and IGR abreast of SPD and KMPA issues through informal networking and formal reporting.
Build good working relationships with GazpromNeft (including different departments). Build a network of contacts within SPD. Challenge and support the SPD where appropriate.
Technical analysis is not limited to RE discipline (Costs, CO2, etc.)
Experience and Qualifications required
RE with and least 3 years of experience, RE competence profile.
Knowledge in Reserves Reporting.
Knowledge in Reservoir Performance Evaluation using Analytical Techniques.
Knowledge in Subsurface Risk Management.
Knowledge in Reservoir Modeling.
Knowledge of Business Planning Process. Experience is a plus.
Personal drive and initiative.
Analytical skills, ability to collect, gather, QAQC, review information from multiple source, sometime contradicting or incomplete. Ability to review the information in short time at different levels (in details and high level) and from different points of view. Ability to formulate credible conclusions, supported by evidences and audit trail. Solve complex problems by making decisions and arranging own workflows in the most effective way.
Experienced Resource One user.
Experience in waterflood development, EOR, WRFM, Tight formation oil development.
Outward and future looking, with an inquisitive mind set, able to take a broad business perspective.
Ability to build extensive personal networks quickly.
