What you’ll be doing

The Ventura Resource Maturation Team’s purpose is to add value to Aera through maturation and movement of contingent resources to undeveloped reserves, ready for development in the Ventura highly faulted turbidite sandstone reservoir. This reservoir engineer role will particularly be leaned on to provide strategy on how to best manage our floods. In order to be successful in this position, it is critical to have a diverse background of engineering roles, and experience working as an informal leader in order to progress the team’s vision. Assessing risk, working with agencies, and applying an innovation mindset for EOR are some of the key elements of this position.

Position Deliverables, Roles and Responsibilities

Build & Execute VN Reservoir Management Strategic Objectives collaborating with team Geologists, Reservoir Engineers, and Technicians
Capital R&R; job review and prioritization including recompletes and add pays
Delivering base production and OpPlan volumes through water management optimization
EHS strategy consultation
Ventura expert supporting all non-technical risk efforts related to reservoir engineering and geology
Technical peer reviews
Development planning including participation in technical peer reviews for new development opportunities and the implementation of new VN recovery processes
Provide technical support to Ventura Operations, Production Engineers, and Process Teams
Oversee bimonthly pattern reviews for consistency in long term field strategy
Infrastructure Design capacity assessments
Support VN Field Critical Business Issues
Oversee the OpPlan and Reserves cycles
Adopt and administer established processes to rapidly and effectively execute technical and economic workflows required to mature barrels
Reserve / resource classification and justification for annual reserves planning.
Utilize Decision Quality methods to achieve project management efficiency and deliver high-quality recommendations.
Work as a member of subsurface team to deliver a ranked, prioritized, and periodically refreshed opportunities portfolio

Required Experience

Minimum of BS degree in Engineering, preferably petroleum, chemical or mechanical engineering.
10+ years of related oil and gas experience; preferentially reservoir engineering experience in Light Oil waterflood.
Operational / production engineering experience desired.
Required strong technical skills and experience in reservoir engineering including: decline curve analysis, volumetrics, reservoir performance evaluation, SEC and PRMS reserve classification.
Strong understanding and integration of Geology and Petrophysics into workflows and deliverables.
Strong understanding of economic analysis and incorporation into project recommendations.
Ability to deal with uncertainty and ambiguity in reservoir and production parameters.
Six Sigma Trained with a strong continuous improvement mindset and experience with Lean tools such as problem solving A3s or SDI.
Experience with regulatory reporting and permitting associated with Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program and Well Stimulation requirements
Proficiency in the following software: Techlog, Stream Sim, EBS, Lego, DSS, Mosaic
