Challenging opportunity available for an experienced reservoir engineer with an aggressive growth oriented independent located in the San Juan Basin. Qualified candidate must have 7 - 15 years with a variety of resource play experience with a background including evaluation of drilling and recompletion opportunities; evaluation of field studies to maximize value and recovery of reserves, an understanding of SEC reserves classification and evaluation, strong computer skills and advanced working knowledge of ARIES.


  • Create a comprehensive development plan to maximize value by optimizing well density & hydrocarbon recovery in unconventional and tight gas assets
  • Provide reservoir engineering and economic evaluation support to plan and implement drilling programs
  • Evaluate reserves and economic potential of asset acquisition opportunities
  • Responsible for budget, long-range planning, and reserves activities
  • Work closely with drilling, completions, and production teams and have understanding of each
  • Use appropriate reservoir models to assist in reservoir optimization

Experience and Skills:


  • Proven career track record of delivery of high value results
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Petroleum Engineering discipline preferred, MBA a plus)
  • 7-15 years of reservoir engineering experience, well performance analysis, reserve estimation and economic/risk analysis, including recent experience with unconventional (tight reservoirs and shale) resource play quantification. (Preferably in multiple basins).
  • Understanding of geological, geophysical and development planning / economic concepts
  • Use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems and is excellent at objective analysis
  • Advanced proficiency with ARIES, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Collaborative and able to work well with others in a multi-discipline team environment
  • Strong communication, presentation, writing, and organization skills
  • Must be self-motivated and be receptive to new ideas and approaches
